Competitions

Sponsored by the Living Donor Support Foundation (LDSF), the Donor Games was established to challenge living donors and transplant recipients to showcase their elite health and fitness in the spirit of rigorous competition. The Donor Games are designed to dispel the misconception that donating your kidney or part of your liver will negatively affect an athlete’s health and physical abilities.

Athletes can participate in the Donor Games through a variety of competition formats; all aimed at promoting awareness of living donation and transplantation.

Opportunities to Compete

Available to living donors, transplant recipients and interested athletes, the Open events run virtually four times per year. Athletes can compete for cash prizes from the convenience of their preferred workout space and submit a video online through the Donor Games App.

Eligible donors and recipients are invited to compete in an in-person competition to crown the annual Donor Games Champion.

Hosted by living donors or transplant recipients, Regional events are designed to bring awareness and education on living donation to the local community in the spirit of competition.

Held every two years by the Transplant Life Foundation in host cities across the country, TGA has grown into a massive national gathering for the entire transplant community around sport and competition. Select Donor Games athletes are invited to compete in a showcase event to demonstrate the elite fitness of living donors and transplant recipients.

Athletes are able to apply for sponsorship to showcase their fitness through other athletic pursuits. These athletic pursuits have included World Record hiking expeditions, mountain climbing (including Mt. Everest), marathons, cycling, Transplant Games World Cup, Transplant Olympics, and many more.
