Roni Hays donated her kidney to her mother in 2019, and has competed in the Donor Games since 2020.

Mike Ramsey donated a kidney to his wife in 2023. While both were recovering, Ramsey learned he would be eligible for the donor games put on by the National Kidney Registry. Mike is one of 20 kidney donors who made it to the championship in Connecticut this September. He placed first among the 10 men.

They met for the first time this week. Steve Holmes came from Philadelphia, and Kate Pleatman from Ohio, to celebrate the woman who benefited from both of their kidneys.

Mimi Mahon, who donated a kidney through the National Kidney Registry’s paired donation program in January 2017 on behalf of her mother (Nicky Mahon, who also competed in the event), captured her fourth Donor Games Championship win.
