West Regional 2025 Recap

The Donor Games West Regional took place Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Mission HQ in Alameda, California. A total of 39 athletes competed, including two living donors, and over 140 spectators also in attendance. From kidney and heart transplant recipients to nephrologists, dialysis nurses and techs, the energy throughout the day was unmatched.

The event featured three workouts, with cash prizes awarded to the top three men and women overall.

In the men’s category, the winners were:

  • 1st prize: Uzi Suarez
  • 2nd prize: Israel Ceron
  • 3rd prize: Yezin Taha

In the women’s category, the winners were:

  • 1st prize: Taylor Recaido
  • 2nd prize: Marisela Ceron
  • 3rd prize: Rebecca Chen

Gym owner Wilson Du, a living donor kidney recipient, kicked off the event by sharing his remarkable transplant journey that included an incredible 300-pound weight loss in order to become eligible for transplant. A powerful moment was shared when a mother daughter-duo took the floor to compete in honor of their husband / father who is currently on dialysis and searching for a kidney donor.
