Donor Games Athlete Profile: Abigail Beckman-Green

Abigail Beckman-Green is a kidney transplant recipient. Even during kidney failure, she stayed active, doing CrossFit before returning to her primary sport, swimming, in 2021. A former collegiate swimmer at Wayne State University in Detroit, she now coaches and competes in US Masters Swimming. Based in Indianapolis, she represents Team Indiana in the Transplant Games of America and Team USA in the World Transplant Games, using her platform to raise awareness about life after kidney transplant. At her first World Transplant Games in 2023, she won five golds and one silver and set five new world records. After that competition, her husband began looking for other swimming events and found the Donor Games 1-Mile Swim 2024 Open, where Abigail not only won her category but posted the fastest overall time. She continues to train and take care of her precious third kidney and is preparing for the 2025 World Transplant Games in Germany, along with future Donor Games events and other local swim competitions.

Transplant Story: Abigail received a kidney transplant in August 2016. Read Abigail’s full transplant story.

Personal: Abigail works in project management at an engineering firm specializing in inflight entertainment. When she’s not on the pool deck or managing projects, she’s probably hiking with her husband and two Aussies or planning their next adventure.
