National Kidney Registry Sponsors Renal Warriors in Rat Race: Source to City 316-Mile Challenge

The National Kidney Registry (NKR) is proud to sponsor a team of 11 transplant recipients and donors as they take on the grueling Rat Race: Source to City, a 316‑mile multisport traverse of the Hudson River Valley, beginning at the river’s source in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York and ending in Battery Park, New York City. The race will take place September 19–22.

This inspiring team, called the Renal Warriors, will run, bike, and kayak over four days and three nights, proving that life after kidney donation and transplantation can be filled with adventure, power, and purpose.

“This Renal Warriors team is truly composed of warriors: kidney donors and kidney recipients who are enduring grueling training to complete a remarkable 300-mile feat, all to shine a light on the 100,000 people waiting for a kidney,” said Hilary Baude.

“Our journey is minuscule when compared to the mountains that kidney patients need to climb, and we want them to know they are not fighting alone. We are hopeful that others will see this journey and consider giving someone the gift of life through kidney donation.”
