Midwest Regional 2025 Recap

The second annual Donor Games Midwest Regional took place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Mahon Strength & Fitness in Hamilton, Ohio, bringing together 56 athletes, more than 30 volunteers, and over 50 spectators to shine a light on the impact of living donation.

2013 CrossFit Games Champion Sam Briggs joined the competition floor and claimed first place in the Women’s RX category, adding to the excitement of the day.

The event featured three workouts, with cash prizes awarded to the top three men and women overall.

In the men’s category, the winners were:

  • 1st prize: Jared Dorsa
  • 2nd prize: Kyle Dieringer
  • 3rd prize: Wyatt Krause

In the women’s category, the winners were:

  • 1st prize: Sam Briggs
  • 2nd prize: Evelyn Huff
  • 3rd prize: Heather Zipko

Following the competition, participants gathered to hear stories from living donors, transplant recipients, and even an individual currently searching for a donor—reminding everyone of the true mission behind the Donor Games.

Among the speakers were gym owner and living donor Mimi Mahon, her mother and kidney recipient Nicki Mahon, living donor Cornelius Bornman, NKR coach and transplant recipient Brian Drain, and one of Mimi’s gym members and her mother, who shared their powerful donor-recipient journey. A local woman also spoke about her son-in-law’s active search for a donor.

“It was an inspiring and impactful celebration of strength, community, and the life-saving power of living donation,” said Mimi. “We were proud to raise awareness for living kidney donation and show that donating an organ does not impair your health or fitness.”
