FAQ: Donor Games Championship

The Donor Games Championship is an annual in-person event that showcases elite donor athletes in a grueling series of workouts from Donor Games Open events. Athletes who are invited to compete in the Championship have a chance to make the podium and earn a cash prize. The Donor Games Championship is held every fall in Connecticut.

Donor and recipient athletes receive invitations to compete in the Donor Games Championship, with travel and lodging expenses covered by the National Kidney Registry, based on their ranking on the season leaderboard. Athletes earn leaderboard points based on their participation and performance in Donor Games Open events throughout the year.

There is no cost to compete in the Donor Games Championship. Invited athletes receive two nights of complimentary lodging. Travel costs (e.g., airfare, train tickets) to get to the event are covered by the National Kidney Registry. All athletes are reimbursed for ground transportation between the hotel and event venue.
