Sponsored Events/Athletes

Dave Ashley has a passion for the outdoors and endurance sports and a long history of participating in ultramarathons, mountain bike races, and other fitness competitions. Now, he wants to inspire other athletes to consider living donation by becoming the first living kidney donor to climb the Seven Summits, including Mount Everest, within one year.

Matt Cavanaugh, PhD, is an active duty US Army Strategist who currently serves as the founding director of the Homeland Defense Institute at the US Air Force Academy. Matt is also a Professor of Practice with Arizona State University, a co-founder of and senior fellow with the Modern War Institute at West Point, and has twice earned the Bronze Star Medal, as well as the Combat Action Badge, for his service in Iraq.

To promote the gift of life through living donation, 20 kidney donors from all across the country represented Kidney Donor Athletes (KDA) in the One Kidney Climb, a summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro on World Kidney Day (March 10, 2022).
